Day 1 Justice & Law

today we went to a narcotics anonymous meeting that seemed to really open everyones eyes within the group, we really appreciated the people within the meeting opening up to us and sharing their experiences and feelings. next we went to a law office and talked to a public defender and she explained to us the new marijuana laws in Massachusetts, called question 2. also she answered a variety of questions that the group had about the justice system and different aspects of her job.

i learned at the narcotics meeting that people who overcome the addiction and are sober for years are still considered addicts for the rest of their lives.- sarah

i learned that that when somebody posts bail that they eventually get it back when they show up in court.

I learned more about the justice system in general but more specifically about the justice system in mass - Ryan

I learned that there is a big difference between getting caught with under and ounce of weed and getting caught with under an ounce of weed with the intent to sell it - Katie

I learned that narcotics can take years to overcome and that people struggle with the fear of relapsing everyday - Leira

i learned that having an ounce of marijuana is not illegal. but the way it is packaged depends on your punishment. -alana
