Day Two has been very busy making pie crusts from scratch, chilling them, rolling them out and blind baking them for chicken or veggie pot pies as well as dessert pies: berry, key lime and lemon meringue.
Anna, Paige, and Reagan- Today was very busy. We made pie crusts to start off the day. It was very new and exciting but required a lot of steps and focus. Our dough was very questionable at first, but in the long run it turned out really good. Along with this, we made pie filling for the chicken pot pie, which was very easy and relaxing. While they cooked we sat down as group and watched the Canadian baking show. Overall it was a great day, our pie won because of its amazing crust that took a lot of determination and focus to make. Nate's pie struggled a little, in which he complimented our pie many times. Overall we had a lot of fun baking while celebrating Paige's birthday.
Jolee and Thai Uyen - Today, we started off the day by making a smooth pie crust in which we put so much effort into. Nate was really jealous that our pie crust was better than his. After lunch, we made a sweet triple berry filling for our pie. It was really delicious and we can't wait to try the final product.
Edie, Brigid, and Nate - Today we worked on a pie crust and although it did not turn out the way we wanted, we had fun and we learned a lot of things. We also got to watch some of The Great Canadian Baking Show which was interesting and fun to relax and hang out with other people.
Elise, Alex, Rebecca and Julia - This morning we started by making pie crust. It was quite messy but I think it ended up pretty well. We started to make the filling for the meat and vegetable pies and it was interesting to see how little some people knew on cooking. When we got back from lunch we started filling the pie and my group decided to make a lattice. We tried to make a butterscotch pie but it didn't end up working, as the butter and sugar separated and we just didn't have a chance to remake it but over all our day went pretty well.
